Daytona 2: DJ

My friend DJ had lived in the Jacksonville suburb of Atlantic Beach his whole life. Other than short tips in the surrounding areas he had not left Duval county.

Our friends Mom, Miss Beth, asked us to drive her to Orlando to visit an old friend. After dropping Miss Beth off, we turned around to head back home, about a 2 hour drive.

The route we were driving was mostly interstate on I95 or I4. Since DJ had never been outside of Jacksonville he wanted to see Daytona. It was 11 PM when we got to the I4/I95 junction so we headed east. I cannot recall what time of year it was during that trip but it was the off season...no Spring Break, Biketoberfest, Bike Week traffic, etc...it was like a ghost town. It was eerily quiet and calm compared to the usual atmosphere you'd expect to find there.

We drove up and down the main drag for a bit before heading back to Atlantic Beach. DJ enjoyed the trip and so did I. It was not my firs trip to Daytona but it was a different city at 11 PM on weeknight during the off season.
